Paula McCartney “On Thin Ice”
The December Store is a pop-up shop of artists’ multiples and affordable small works. We are inspired by Fluxus pop-up stores and the idea that anyone should be able to afford to collect art. The first December Store opened at .NO gallery in the Lower East Side, NYC (December 2011). The second Store will open at Gallery Jan Dhaese in Ghent, Belgium (January 2012).
The December Store is a concept by Vanessa Albury and Sörine Anderson.
The December Store’s curators are Vanessa Albury and Sörine Anderson, with co-curation of Jan Van Woensel for the second store.
Drawings by Jesse Bransford
“One of nine pieces that construct a so-called ‘magic cube’ based on the kamea (magic square) for the planet Saturn. The script on each kamea is a magic word associated with Saturn and is transliterated in the parenthetic of each title. Each piece is a functioning talisman drawing Saturnalian influence to the concept in the title of each work.”
